Chapter one down and so many more to go...Some of those reading this might say, “What took you so long?”
Well, I’ll tell you what took so long…I don’t know really. It is tough to say. The chapter was outlined and mostly written weeks ago. However, so some reason, I would sit and look at a flashing cursor, write a few sentences, and pause…for long periods of time. It really wasn’t making any sense. I knew where I wanted to head with the dialogue and where the story needed to start. For some reason, all I could see was a few sentences at a time. I could only imagine the characters doing a couple of small tasks at a time.
It was not fun. I tried to spend time on various weekends, evenings, and short walks thinking about where the story was going. It just wouldn’t make its way to the screen. The one thing I had on my side was the small progress. A couple sentences one day, another few the next week, and finally, while sitting with family, watching tv, the words just started to flow out. I even thought I would stop at some point before finishing the chapter. Fortunately, the details made it out.
I revised the chapter and added a few more details. Here’s hoping the next one presents itself much sooner. I must continue finding the time and continue writing even if it is only a few sentences at a time. Eventually, it moves forward. Eventually, you can see all of the trees in the concentrated forest.
