Two roads diverging at a tree

Hello again…so, what happened to the momentum you maybe asking. Well, let me just share that once you start sharing things with others to provide you feedback, things can change. Sometimes, there are small changes and sometimes there are larger changes. For the last few months, the changes have been on the larger side.

Turns out that when you start writing a book with a certain plot and audience in mind and realize that your target audience may not be what you think it is, major changes ...

When you sit down to write, you can simply continue writing or you can constantly pause to fill in the gaps. It seems that no matter how small the or large the gap is, the desire to mind/mend the gap is a bit overwhelming.

Mid way through a chapter, I find myself rereading previous words. This occurs not just for the current chapter, but the previous one as well. As I read, the voice of one of my former teachers enters my head: Create, don't state.

Well, that is easier said then ...

Chapter one down and so many more to go...Some of those reading this might say, “What took you so long?”

Well, I’ll tell you what took so long…I don’t know really. It is tough to say. The chapter was outlined and mostly written weeks ago. However, so some reason, I would sit and look at a flashing cursor, write a few sentences, and pause…for long periods of time. It really wasn’t making any sense. I knew where I wanted to head with the dialogue and where the story needed to start. ...

I am one of those possibly odd individuals who enjoys the balance of a good pen, scribbling nonsense across a blank piece of paper. I have had many writing utensils over the years. Some of them lasted years, others barely made it weeks before the ink dried up, ran out, or just refused to mark its mark.

While I still have a backup to my backup writing utensils, I am going to be moving to a purely digital format for these new novels. I tried the paper approach for the first chapter, but I ...

Just like people, characters in a story experience stress and emotional challenges. As the story develops, I always wonder if my emotions are enough help the characters seem real. They may need to show or experience things I have not had the opportunity to encounter. There may be situations that I would not want to engage in myself.

As I shift through the storyline that I have outlined for A Curious Morrow - When Time Pauses, I am beginning to reconsider some of the paths and some of the ...

I’ve read many books where the story itself took forever to get to the peak and very little time closing things out. The ending was rushed and it would leave me with the desire to know more. Some of the rush was to get to the next book. Some of the rush was possibly due to poor editing and some was possibly impacted by a perception of page count.

As I outlined the first book in A Curious Morrow, I realized that I was possibly engaging in some of the same practices and didn’t have a sense ...

Over the last twenty years or so, I have started multiple stories. Some of the writings were started during NaNoWriMo and others were inked as I had the time and inspiration. Most of the adventures were never finished. Either the time dwindled or the inspiration was influenced toward another direction. The reality is, I didn't make the time to do the writing. Other things in life would come up, and I would make every excuse not to write.

I wish the decision was a forced one because it ...
